In 2009 when Tamara bought the building that housed the original Consign Couture in Portland’s St. John's neighborhood, she was deep into a career of corporate advertising. The building was a former auto repair shop and was bought by Tamara to be a space for a side project combining her love of art and photography. Never could she have imagined the ways in which the neighborhood and her never-ending pursuit of fashion would inspire a different entrepreneurial vision. She quickly realized her drive to re-purpose fashion as well as her dream of cultivating a space for women to work and shop. Soon Consign Couture was established as a melting pot of community, design, mentoring and fashion — an ever evolving space that reflects Young’s creative spirit and impassioned drive. Born in Northern California and raised in a suburb of Portland, Oregon, Young studied at the University of Oregon as well as having studied photography at New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts. With Consign Couture, she hopes to continue to develop a community space within her business that nurtures self esteem, inspires responsible consumption, and creates a place for neighbors to engage with purposeful design. We are only located in Lake Oswego now.
Styling, Marketing & Training
Jade has been with Consign Couture on and off for 6 years! It's been an ongoing joke that she is a forever employee, and that "joke" is actually becoming a reality. Jade is amazing at styling customers and photoshoots. She currently writes our newsletters and works in the Lake Oswego shop one day a week. She is also helpful in training all employees. She graduated from East West College of the Healing Arts in 2017 and is now a massage therapist. She is a third generation healer. We have hopes that she will soon offer pop up chair massages in the Lake Oswego location.
Assistant to the Owner
Miso is a new addition to the CC family. He was adopted from the Oregon Humane Society in late 2017 and quickly found his way into all of our hearts. He can be found greeting new customers and sitting in nearly every photoshoot. He is a little grumpy if you wake him up from a nap but if you let him come to you, you are golden!
Miso came from The Oregon Humane Society - they do amazing work.
She is a student at Seattle Pacific and is studying apparel design and sustainability. She worked as a shopgirl in St. Johns in 2018 and then when she moved she started writing and editing our blog posts.
Shopgirl - Lake Oswego
Nancy is a long time customer and huge supporter of everything to do with Consign Couture. You will find Nancy always smiling and helping everyone. She is our shop mama and has a knack for showing you exactly what you need. We could not have made the Lake Oswego location what its become without so much hard work and dedication from Nancy.
More about Andrea coming soon.:)
